James Barnor Ghanaian photographer and historian visiting Blacklisted

I had the pleasure of spending some time with James Garnor who’s an 87 year old legend in this photography game.  From documenting in Ghana pre and post independence, developing the first colour photograph produced in Ghana this man’s eye and wisdom are impeccable. Fortunately he had time to pass through Blacklisted which is an artistic exhibition by myself and Malcolm-Emilio Yarde up until May 4th. The closing party is from 5-8pm on the 4th 2 D-Beatstro 1292 bloor st w toronto.  I appreciated a continental historian recognizing and showing us support.

CMW Conference and Artshows on a Thursday

So the weather got us showing more skin and feeling fine.  This year we got CMW in May which also is the month of Toronto’s Contact Photography exhibits.  So i got to check out a panel at CMW about engaging with the youth who are change the nature of the music industry.  Some sound advice was given about taking lead from those who are actually youth as oppose to those stuffy know it all business types who feel they know what millenials want.  I’ll be posting footage of that later.

After being in that air conditioned hotel for much too long as everyone was outside enjoying the sun I rolled down to Parts & Labour to Get Curious which has a Fido sponsored artshow equipped with fido mason jar take home mugs, vegan mushroom cactus tacos (fido gets bonus points from me for that) and of course some dope art from Michelle LeFade, Maya Fuhr and Chris Levett.

So sfter hamming it up with the woes (mindbender, zoe and micheal) i peaced out to the Norman Felix Gallery for their Contact opening featuring my friend Isaiah Trickey.  His as well as the other featured artists will have their work up till the end of May.  If you’re in Tdot you should check it out. Last weekend Justin Bua was in town to chill at Redbull headquarters to sell some artwork.  He brought his buddy Russell Peter’s along to dj the festivities.  The party was off the chain.  Russell thru down some dope tunes and of course Justin was awesome.  Smiling and signing art for people.  I know a few people who got some goodies.  Maestro Fresh Wes and Jonathon Mannion were also up in the spot.

here’s some pics and video from the event.
